Swans 0 Merley Cobham Sports 2
Swans suffered Cup heartache against holders Merley Cobham Sports losing 2-0 at Day's Park in The Dorset Senior Trophy.
Swans were behind on 9 minutes when they failed to clear a cross and Asa Phillips was on hand to smash the loose ball past keeper Dan Beeston. The host gradually gained confidence but Marcus Smith missed a great chance following a pass from Paul Best. Both sides failed to create any real chances for the rest of the half despite playing entertaining football in heavy rain. H.T. 0-1.
Swans again played attractive football in the second half but lacked that cutting edge in the attacking third, and had a lucky escape when the visitors hit the bar when well placed. Merley produced the sucker punch in the 88th minute, when they raced away following a failed Swans free kick and Josh Pickering slotted home to secure the passage into the next round of the Dorset Senior Trophy.
Highlight for manager Tony Parrott was the introduction of debutant Nemo Nixon and the tireless work by Cam Barnes and David Best plus the attractive football the team produced.
